FOR those lucky enough to have a dishwasher, you’ve come to the right place.

It turns out that we’ve been loading our dishwashers all wrong.


One woman, Anna Lanier, also known on TikTok as the ‘CEO of Randomness’, has revealed that many people have been loading their dishwasher incorrectly and in fact, a simple technique means that your mugs will not collect any water. 

Anna has 386k followers and 14.4million likes on the video sharing platform and was left stunned when she realised the clever loading method. 

She uploaded her video to social media with the caption ‘I was always told to do it straight, nice and neat and it never was the right way lol’.

She said: “We’ve been loading the dishwasher wrong for years.

In the video, we see Anna loading the top shelf of her dishwasher with mugs, like many people do – placing the mugs straight over the spokes.

However, she then shows an alternative method, that will clean your mugs properly and ensure that they don’t fill up with water.

She simply places the mugs at a slight angle, leaning them against the side of the dishwasher.

With this technique, the mugs won’t fill up with water and will therefore clean effectively.

Anna’s video has clearly shocked many, as in just four days, it has quickly racked up a whopping 686.3k views.

It has 4,676 likes, 160 comments and 782 shares.

The video was met with mixed comments – while many were thankful for the tip and revealed that they weren't aware of this method either, others were shocked and thought that this was common knowledge. 

One person said: “I didn’t know this lol”.
