This is the unusual thing that Meghan Markle always does before travelling to avoid getting ill

And it turns out that the Suits star, 36, has a sneaky trick to preventing herself getting ill when she is on the go.

Frequent flying can dehydrate the body and cause germs to be spread in the circulating air, and Meghan swears by a piece of advice that Leonardo DiCaprio follows.

She wrote on her lifestyle blog The Tig, which has been since removed: “[H]e puts a little Neosporin on a cotton swab and coats the inside of his nostrils.

“Not only does it create a barrier for germs, it also lubricates the skin in the nose.”

While this technique may sound unusual, Meghan explained how the antibiotic cream can prevent infection.

She added: “That’s important because when the skin cracks, germs can come a running in, so the coating of the Neosporin doubly protects you.”

Neosporin that is commonly used to prevent infection like minor cuts, scrapes and burns.

The cream contains bacitracin, neomycin, and polymyxin B, and is not readily available to buy in the UK, but can be purchased online.

It’s not the only thing Meghan does to keep infection at bay when on a flight.

The American star continued: “I’m no germophobe, but when I get on a plane I always use some quick hand wipes or a travel sanitizer spray to wipe it all down: that includes the little TV, the service tray, and all the buttons around your seat.”

According to research by Skyscanner, the tray table is the dirtiest place on a plane, followed by the overhead air vent, the toilet flush button and the seatbelt buckle.

So there you have it, will you be trying out her tips on your next holiday?

Recently we reported how Prince Harry and Meghan are inviting 2,600 people to their wedding, with 1,200 being members of the public.
