18-year-old beauty vlogger Ariadna Juarez enlisted the help of her underage boyfriend's mother to try and convince her 60,000 subscribers that his "maturity is not determined by age."

The controversial relationship first faced criticism from Ariadna's fans earlier this summer after they spotted the minor lying shirtless on her bed in an Instagram post.

Although her boyfriend also boasts a large following on Instagram, the 13-year-old is currently four years under the age of consent in the state of Texas.

In an attempt to defend the relationship, Ariadna explains in the video Speaking Up About Our Controversial 'Relationship' how she had unexpectedly fallen in love with the minor while they were "just getting to know each other."

Before officially entering into a relationship, Ariadna claims that the couple and his parents consulted a lawyer who told them "there's nothing wrong with dating" as long as it's no "type of sexual contact."

Because of this, Ariadna argues she's not doing anything wrong – adding: "It's sad to know that we have to put our love aside just because people don't want to see us together and because people are ignorant."

Addressing the followers who have reportedly labelled her a child abuser, Ariadna says: "It's sickening to see that people don't want to see you happy without knowing anything about you."

Meanwhile, the child's mother insists that she "would never allow him to be in any kind of danger" and claims that Ariadna is a "good girl" who is "very responsible."

Unsurprisingly, the couple have since split because "the negativity got out of hand" and Ariadna believes that "the only reason this became such a big deal is because both me and him were both very well known on social media."

Since the unlikely pair broke up, the boy's mother said: "It's very upsetting for me to see them because I can see and I can tell how much they both love each other."

Back in May, the beauty vlogger filmed a Q & A video in which she revealed her plans to marry the underage Instagram star in just two years time – which would have made him a 15-year-old groom.

Ariadna concluded the bizaare 11-minute video by claiming her viewers "really know nothing because you have never been through it".

As a result of the controversy, Ariadna has since made her Instagram account private and also disabled the comments for  the – video which has been viewed over 146,000 times.
