Woman shares genius way to warm your house for just £1.50 a day, and it's SO easy | The Sun

AS the temperatures look set to drop later this week, we're all looking for ideas on how to stay warm – without breaking the bank.

And one woman has shown how she came up with a genius hack to keep her house warm for just £1.50 per day.

Claire Appleton took to her Making a Home Instagram page to share her tricks to make a "fake fire".

"Heat your room from £1.50 per day with this 'fake fire'," she said.

First off, she got a fire basket from Amazon, before removing the insert from an old burner and putting into the basket.

She then added some £30 ceramic logs, also from Amazon.

Once that was done, she squirted in some Bio Ethanol Fluid, which costs £36,99 for 12 litres.

Claire lit it with a long lighter, and then sat back to enjoy the warmth.

"Now the colder nights have kicked in, this is the perfect solution for those empty fireplaces!" she wrote in the caption.

"I’ve based the running cost on the fact we bought the Bio ethanol liquid in bulk.

"We burn around half a litre per day/evening. Living in an old house it’s started to get cold, this is helping us refrain from popping the heat on.

"We’re heating a room that is 68 cubic meters just with this little fire.

"Not only does it look super cute, it practical too!"

Claire added that she'd done her research on Bio ethanol fires, and found that the room it's in needs to have good air flow or an air vent, but doesn't require a chimney or a flue.

"Bio ethanol is a clean burning fuel," she concluded.

People were quick to comment on the video to praise Claire for the clever idea.

"It’s such a good option for those who can’t have log burners!" one wrote.

"I have been wanting a bio fuel log burner for so long and I think I’m going to take the plunge!!"

"This is such an amazing idea!" a third praised.

"I’m going to do this is our bedroom if I can!"

As someone else commented: "This is soooo smart!!!! and gorgeous".
