Sheridan Smith was driving her Range Rover when she swerved off the road and smashed into a tree due to the bad weather.

The star was driving on a road when the weather caused by Storm Arwen, resulted in her crashing the vehicle.

The actress was driving just 600 yards away from her home in Essex when she hit a tight bend on the road.

Police have told The Sun that the 40-year-old and her boyfriend were in the crash but no other driver was involved and no crime was committed.

It was reported that large fragments of her car, including a rear bumper and tail lights, were on the floor.

A neighbour told the publication that Sheridan is "lucky to be alive" as they said the car was "stuck in the tree".

They said it was a "miracle" she wasn't more hurt, adding that the particular bend is hard at the "best of times".

The neighbour said: "Thank goodness there were land-owners to cut up the tree blocking the road or police would never have got through.

"It doesn't bear thinking about what might have happened."

The conditions on the road were difficult to drive in with icy conditions and 60mph winds.

The crash came shortly after her appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, which was filmed days prior, which allegedly saw the star claim she wasn't treated with kindness.

The Sun had reported that she was "absolutely furious" when filming had ended and allegedly claimed the atmosphere was "chauvinistic and there was an air of misogyny".
