With December starting this week, the race to Christmas No 1 is already beginning to hot up. Ed Sheeran and Sir Elton John are teaming up this year for their very own festive single, simply called Merry Christmas. The 74-year-old tweeted today: “Just under a year ago, I called Ed Sheeran to see if he wanted to make a Christmas single with me and now it’s nearly here!”
Elton continued: “Merry Christmas will be out Fri 3 Dec with all proceeds from this year’s Christmas period going to the Ed Sheeran Suffolk Music Foundation and the Elton John AIDS Foundation.”
Both singers then shared a teaser video on social media which saw Ed recreating Andrew Lincoln’s scene in Love Actually.
The famous movie moment from Richard Curtis’ rom-com saw The Walking Dead star’s character Mark knocking on the door of Keira Knightley’s Juliet, his best mate’s wife who he’s madly in love with.
He then shows her large cue cards expressing a written message of his unconditional love for her.
