Travis Scott (II) has recently landed in hot water for allegedly removing a transgender model from the cover art of his new album “Astroworld”. Many have taken to social media to call the rapper “transphobic,” but his reps have come forward to deny the “inaccurate” accusations.

Speaking to TMZ, they reveal that Travis wasn’t even aware that Amanda Lepore was included in the artwork since he only received the final version from photographer David LaChapelle. Thus, he had nothing to do with the removal.

Amanda herself has previously shared that she wasn’t even angry about the removal as she understood it was just a matter of attractiveness and artistic integrity. Taking to Instagram, she wrote, “A girl can’t help it! Too distracting for the eyes! Upstaged everyone in the photograph.” Similarly, David explained that he had to remove Amanda from the final version because she simply “upstaged everyone,” adding that the edit had “nothing to do with hating.”

Meanwhile, Ne-Yo has weighed in on the controversy, saying that the hip-hop industry needs to make a better effort in embracing the LGBTQ community. “If rap is not embracing [the LGBTQ community], that’s the only people not embracing them,” he told TMZ at LAX. “I mean, they’re here. They’re not going anywhere. They’re people just like us. I feel like they deserve the same respect so yeah, I feel like it’s definitely about time.”

“I say to each his own. If you gonna be ignorant, be ignorant. That’s on you. However, on this side, we gonna be enlightened and welcome,” he continued. “It’s definitely about time. I don’t know who’s going to shoot the first shot or whatever the case may be but that person will be blazing a trail so to speak.”

“Astroworld” was released on Friday, August 3. Following the release, Travis unveiled three songs which didn’t make the cut during his appearance on “.Wav Radio” show. The three songs were “Part Time”, “Zoom” featuring Gunna and “Houdini” featuring Playboi Cardi. Listen to them on Apple Music.
