An influencer was left with a Joker-like scar on her face after a random attacker slashed her cheek as she slept on an overnight bus, in a completely unprovoked attack.

Stefani Firmo, from Brazil, was travelling between Recife and Salvador last Tuesday (November 29), when she was set upon by a woman with a knife at 5am.

The nursing student woke up “with a very strong pain” after being sliced from ear to mouth, and immediately ran to a friend she was travelling with.

Firmo was due to arrive at Salvador, the capital of Brazil’s northeastern state of Bahia, at 7.40am having left Recife, the capital of Brazil’s northeastern state of Pernambuco, at 6.15pm the previous day.

“As I ran my hand over, I found it was covered in blood,” she wrote of her early-morning attack, on Instagram.

“Someone had cut me viciously across the face.

“Soon after becoming aware of what had happened, I went to the seat of a friend, who was also travelling with me, who helped me with first aid and woke up the other passengers.”

Firmo, who has over 24k Instagram followers, said she didn't "even speak to anyone other than my friend during the entire trip".

Passengers reportedly found a knife on the woman seated behind Firmo, but police didn't arrest her due to lack of evidence, reports said.

“I am completely scared and shaken,” Firmo said.

“I don’t know if the person’s intention was to seriously cut me or kill me.

“I will probably have an eternal memory on my face, which will make me remember this terrible moment over and over again.

“The fact is that we can’t even travel safely anymore. We are not safe anywhere.”

Police are investigating, and Firmo revealed yesterday (Monday, December 5), on Instagram that the bus company handed over CCTV footage of the attack.

She wrote on the social media site: "In the dash cam footage, you can tell the woman behind me stands up and quickly unleashes a punch to my face.

"The recording leaves no doubt that there was no argument or inconvenience between her and I.

"Instead, she just got up and used the knife she was carrying to cut me in my sleep. The attack was ruthless, brutal and cruel."
