A mayor who stripped off and held a roast chicken over his penis in a racy ‘dad bod’ nude charity calendar has been slammed over the odd stunt.

Daring local politician Gabe Carroll represented Mr November in the risky shoot, that saw him look straight into the camera in the nude with only the baked poultry to protect his modesty.

But despite raising $1,500 (£1,200) for the local Christmas fund in Creston, Iowa, USA, to help families buy festive meals and gifts, Gabe has been slammed for the decision.

Over a dozen complaints have rolled in from locals deeming the skit offensive, with resident Bailey Niedermann telling news channel KCCI: “That's just weird.

“Being the mayor, I would not even publicize that at all.”

Gabe himself has been forced to defend his antics and released a statement admitting: “I can understand some people not getting the joke and feeling offended. That's just part of life I suppose.”

The company behind the calendar, local beer producers Hot Air Brewing, said they had intended to feature the blokes who frequent the store the most.

Owner Katie Davidson explained: "We put people in the calendar who have helped us and supported us and who are trying to make Creston a better place.

"Dad bods, just real guys, guys that we all know. Gabe has been our mayor for three years. And he's done a lot of really great progressive work in our small town that was not doing so hot.”

Thankfully for the mayor, he has also been backed by some of the 7,000 people living within the town.

Local Tom Jackson saw the funny side and threw his support behind his leader, declaring: “He's trying to support a small-town business and I think Gabe is a down-to-earth guy. Think he's doing a crack-up job as mayor.”
