Pornhub is BANNED on YouTube over 'multiple violations'

Pornhub is BANNED on YouTube over ‘multiple violations’ of its community guidelines – just days after TikTok booted the firm amid child pornography allegations

  • Pornhub has been banned on YouTube after it was found to link to sites that violate YouTube’s Community Guidelines
  •  YouTube did not specify which guidelines, but it prohibits content that explicit content meant to be sexually gratifying
  • It also prohibits content that can harm the well-being of minors
  • Pornhub has been banned from TikTok and Instagram this year

Pornhub has been banned from YouTube – three days after TikTok booted the company over child pornography allegations

The Google-owned company said it terminated the channel, which was used as a marketing tool, over ‘multiple violations’ by linking to sites that host content not allowed by its community guidelines.

Pornhub’s parent company, MindGeek, is not taking the removal lightly and ‘vehemently denied’ YouTube’s claims that it linked to porn sites.

The removal on YouTube is just one of many that Pornhub has experienced in the past few years. In 2020, Mastercard and Visa cut payments from the adult content firm, and Instagram banned it most recently permanently.

Jack Malon, a YouTube spokesperson, told DailyMail.com: ‘Upon review, we terminated the channel PornhubOfficial following multiple violations of our Community Guidelines.

‘We enforce our policies equally for everyone, and channels that repeatedly violate or are dedicated to violative content are terminated.’

While YouTube did not clarify specific guidelines, its policy states that ‘explicit content meant to be sexually gratifying is not allowed on YouTube’ and ‘YouTube doesn’t allow content that endangers minors’ emotional and physical well-being.’

DailyMail.com has contacted Pornhub for comment.

Pornhub had nearly 900,000 subscribers before it was pulled from YouTube last Friday.

Mastercard severs ties with Pornhub and says its investigation found ‘unlawful content’ as Visa suspends payment processing after allegations the site ‘hosts child abuse and rape’

Mastercard has cut ties with the pornography website Pornhub and Visa is suspending payment processing after a New York Times columnist accused the site in hosting illegal videos of child abuse and sexual assault.

The National Center on Sexual Exploitation released a statement following news the adult content company had been terminated from YouTube.

Lina Nealon, director of corporate and strategic initiatives for the National Center on Sexual Exploitation, said: ‘Pornhub has lost yet another means to market and profit from exploitation, and we are grateful to YouTube for removing the account of this predatory enterprise.

‘Pornhub was driving people directly to their pornography site – a violation of YouTube’s policies –which mounting evidence shows is rife with child sexual abuse material, sex trafficking, rape, and image-based sexual abuse.’

Nealon continued to explain that Pornhub’s channel allowed’ children to view the videos of women being raped, children being abused, extreme acts of violence and racism that are so pervasive on Pornhub. It also served as de facto advertising for this criminal company.’

A MindGeek spokesperson told Variety that it denies YouTube’s claims.

‘Pornhub maintains the absolute best trust and safety measures on the internet and takes special care to ensure it does not violate any of YouTube’s Community Guidelines,’ a spokesperson said in a statement.

‘Unfortunately, this is just the latest example of discrimination against those in the adult industry.’

In December 2020. Mastercard announced it had cut ties with Pornhub due to ‘unlawful content on its site.’

Visa had said it was suspending the company’s acceptance privileges pending the completion of our ongoing investigation,’ but completely cut ties in August 2022.

And a few months later,  Meta permanently banned Pornhub from Instagram for ‘repeatedly violating’ its policies on nudity, adult content and sexual solicitation.

Pornhub responded by posting an open letter on Twitter, arguing that the platform’s policies have been ‘opaque, discriminatory and hypocritical.’

While YouTube did not clarify specific guidelines, its policy states that ‘explicit content meant to be sexually gratifying is not allowed on YouTube’ and ‘YouTube doesn’t allow content that endangers minors’ emotional and physical well-being’

It cites the image of Kim Kardashian where her rear end is exposed that remains on Instagram as an example of the latter.

And TikTok joined the other social media platforms in the movement.

TikTok said the termination was due to allegations Pornhub has profited from content involving children and others without consent.
