Barcelona have got off to the perfect start to the season.
Wins over Alaves and Real Valladolid on the opening two weekends have got the La Liga title defence off to the ideal start.
It comes after a host of new arrivals this summer, with the Catalan giants bringing in Brazilian winger Malcom, centre-back Clement Lenglet, 21-year-old midfielder Arthur and Chilean veteran Arturo Vidal.
There’s still a few days left in the Spanish transfer window, which means there’s still time for the another arrival at the Nou Camp.
Here, Mirror Football look at five potential signings Barcelona could make before the Spanish transfer window slams shut at midnight on August 31.
The 23-year-old midfielder’s contract runs out at the end of this season and is eyeing up Barcelona. He may not have to wait.
The young midfielder has already played over 200 games for the French champions and Barcelona are reportedly ready to test the water before this window shuts.
Rabiot has already rejected a contract renewal from PSG and Mundo Deportivo claimed last week that Barcelona are ready to bid €50million for the player.
The midfielder impressed against Barcelona when PSG thumped the Catalan giants 4-0 in Champions League quarter-final first-leg a couple of years ago and has been on their radar ever since.
Thiago wants a move back to Barcelona – and could still head back there this summer.
The 27-year-old has also been linked with a move to Barcelona’s biggest rivals Real Madrid in recent weeks.
But it seems like if he was going to move back to Spain he would much rather it be Barcelona than the Los Blancos. Mundo Deportivo claim Thiago is crazy about returning to Barca.
Another Spanish outlet, Marca, said that Thiago is seen as an ideal signing for the Barcelona dressing room.
The Spanish midfielder will get a welcome return to the Nou camp if he makes the switch.
This one will be for the future if he makes his way to Spain.
Reports out of Barcelona have claimed that the Nou Camp giants have already had a €10million bid rejected by Argentinian side Boca Juniors.
The player in question is 19-year-old centre-back Leo Balerdi and if Barcelona snap him up, they’ll be hoping the young Argentinian can make statements at the Camp Nou in years to come.
With many talents making their way from Boca Juniors to Europe, including Carlos Tevez, Juan Roman Riquelme and Diego Maradona this could be another Boca product to look out for.
As well as Balerdi, Barcelona are also reportedly keeping their eye on fellow teammate Agustin Almendra. A young winger who’s already been showing his class in the first team.
Keep an eye out for these two.
Frenkie de Jong
This is more of a case of what could have been for Barcelona.
They were hoping that Ajax would fail to qualify for the Champions League group stage, with Spanish press saying they would have been able to press on with the deal if they had.
Unfortunately, Ajax overcame Dynamo Kiev and booked their place in the next round – with De Jong coming out after the game and claiming he was staying put as a result.
“Maybe someday I’ll join Barcelona but not this season,” he said. “I’m staying at Ajax. I think it will be a good year. I’d love to play with Ajax against Barcelona.”
The talented youngster who got nine assists last season has been linked to the Catalans all summer.
De Jong believes a move would be a massive step forward in his career, but simply playing in the Champions League appears to be enough for him right now.
Matthijs de Ligt
De Jong isn’t the only Ajax youngster Barcelona are reportedly eyeing up.
Nineteen-year-old Matthijs de Ligt is also on the Catalan club’s radar.
Earlier in the year, Frank de Boer was on Fox Sports, a dutch television channel, saying De Ligt was being scouted by the Spanish club.
The youngster made 31 league appearances for his club last season and scored three goals from centre-back.
Although links between De Ligt and Barcelona have been quiet in the last couple of months, the Catalan giants could still be interested and swoop in before deadline day.
Don’t be surprised if you see another Dutchman line up for Barcelona this season.
