Rio Ferdinand praises Sergio Aguero and says he 'would take him over Harry Kane' after Manchester City's Community Shield win

Rio Ferdinand praised the Argentinian for his incredible goal haul and hailed him better than Harry Kane.

Speaking on BT Sport, the ex-Manchester United player was full of praise for Aguero who reached a milestone 200 goals for City today.

He said: "Getting 200 league goals for Manchester City is a phenomenal amount, and I think he is the best striker in the Premier League.

"He was the hardest I played against, fantastic movement, pace and awareness."
Aguero's double sealed Pep Guardiola's side victory over Chelsea in the Community Shield today.

Rio Ferdinand was very complimentary of both Aguero and Foden

City proved once again what a strong side they are but also highlighted the gaps in Chelsea's performance-showing that Maurizio Sarri's new side are a work in progress.

Ferdinand praised the team's performance, but took a special shine to Aguero even saying he would 'take him over Harry Kane'.

He said: "In terms of someone who is hard to play against, he brings so much off both feet, and with his movement and pace he offers all sorts of problems.

Ferdinand was full of praise for the man that set up Aguero's first goal too.

Speaking of the young City ace Phil Foden, the BT Sport pundit said: "Phil Foden was the standout.

"There are some good young players coming in, having an effect, it's going to be a big season.

"He has confirmed to the manager that he is ready, he has the ability and intelligence to be in this side, now he seems ready for the first team and to play more minutes."

Other notable members of the 200 club that Aguero has just entered include Ferdinand's ex-United team-mate Wayne Rooney- who managed 253 goals for the Red Devils.

And Ferdinand's ex-England team-mate, and BT Sport colleague, Frank Lampard who netted 211 goals for Chelsea is also a member.
