Chaos on ITV This Morning as Paddy McGuinness doesn't realise he's on air
Top Gear presenter Paddy McGuinness was welcomed onto the latest instalment of This Morning to discuss his new Channel 4 programme, Tempting Fortune. However, the interview descended into chaos when Paddy didn’t realise he was live on-air following a risque comment.
As co-host Dermot O’Leary was explaining singer Marti Pellow would be performing live on the ITV show, Paddy assumed he was not on the air.
As footage from one of Marti’s music videos of a woman caressing her body was shown, Paddy could be heard saying: “Look at that, yes!”
After Paddy made the comment, which he insisted was about Marti, he asked host Alison Hammond: “Tell me now, be serious, because you know what it’s like, are we on [air]?”
Dermot and Alison couldn’t hold back their giggles before the latter said: “I don’t feel very well.”
A confused Paddy said: “Seriously, you two before I start effing and jeffing, are we on? Are we on the telly?”
Dermot replied as Alison continued chuckling: “I apologise, but yes, this is on the telly.”
A mortified Paddy said: “Oh my God, why didn’t you give me a heads up?”
The interview soon moved away from the awkward moment and onto Paddy’s reality Channel 4 series Tempting Fortune.
The show follows 12 strangers who give up their luxuries to endure a gruelling 18-day trek across the South African wilderness with just basic survival gear.
The aim is to reach a shared £300,000 prize at the finish line but this twist is that they can choose to spend some of that eventual prize money on luxury beds and meals along the way.
However, not everyone will agree on chipping away at the all-important prize fund.
This Morning viewers took to Twitter in light of Paddy’s blunder, with Mike Johnson writing: “McGuinness trying to look like a teenager with his foot on the sofa… #ThisMorning.”
Gavin Greaves shared: “Paddy, loves himself! #ThisMorning.”
