Anton du Beke quit: Will Anton quit Strictly Come Dancing after final?

Strictly Come Dancing professional Anton du Beke has been part of the Strictly line up since the show began in 2004. This year, he is partnered with EastEnders star Emma Barton and the pair have made it all the way to the final which takes place tonight (Saturday, December 14) at 7:05pm on BBC One. Competing against Emma and Anton to lift the glitterball trophy are Kelvin Fletcher and Oti Mabuse and Karim Zeroual and Amy Dowden.

Anton Du Beke has been part of the Strictly family since the show’s inception in 2004.

Throughout the years, he has been partnered with the likes of Kate Garraway, Ann Widdecombe, Ruth Langsford and Susannah Constantine.

For the second time, Anton will take to the Strictly dance floor as a Strictly finalist.

The only other time he made it to the final was in 2015 with his partner, Katie Derham.

Speaking to Good House Keeping, Anton opened up about what being in the final means to him.

He said: “This is beyond exciting. I can’t even tell you what it feels like, I wish I could remember what it felt like last time, the only time.”

Anton added: “For me, the whole experience has been wonderful but most of all I’ve enjoyed Emma’s love of doing the show, that’s been the best thing for me. To make the final is a joy,“

At 53-years-old and the show’s longest-serving professional, there have been many rumours that Anton will be leaving the glitz and glamour of Strictly behind.

He also recently announced he landed a role on ITV’s This Morning called Anton’s Christmas Angels, adding more speculation that his time on Strictly may be coming to an end. 

Thankfully, there is good news for Strictly Come Dancing and Anton du Beke fans.

The Strictly professional recently denied rumours that he would be quitting the series after 2019 final.

Speaking to, Anton said: “I want to continue forever.

“I have no desire to end my participation in Strictly Come Dancing at all because I’m literally loving every step of it.

“And this year is a wonderful story for me because I’m, you know, dancing with Emma who’s a really super dancer.”

He added: “I’ve just enjoyed myself more and more every year.

“I don’t know if that’s because I’ve been doing it for so long but every year I enjoy it more. So that’s that’s lovely for me.”

Tonight on Strictly Come Dancing, Anton and Emma will perform three routines: a show dance, their favourite dance and a routine specifically chosen by the judges.

The judges have chosen the Charleston for Emma and Anton to perform tonight.

Their show dance will be performed to Let Yourself Go by Irving Berlin

Emma and Anton will perform the Viennese Waltz from week four as their favourite dance.

At the moment, Emma and Anton are close contenders to win the competition.

Rupert Adams from William Hill told “If you factor in the Anton factor, you have to think that Emma is a real contender to win Strictly 2019.”

They are at odds of 9/4 at Ladbrokes, Coral and William Hill.

However, soapstar Kelvin Fletcher and his partner Oti Mabuse are the current favourites to win the show at odds of 2/5 to win at Bet365, Ladbrokes and Betfair.

Betfair Spokesperson Katie Baylis said “Kelvin has been the punters’ favourite since week one on Betfair Exchange and he’s odds-on at 2/5 to hold the glitter ball aloft tonight.

“Whilst Karim has been one of the standouts of the series he has been in the bottom two and is the outsider tonight at big odds of 30/1, while Emma Barton could be the one to upset the form book and is 5/2 to win.”

Karim and Amy are currently at old of 12/1 at Betfair, Paddypower and Betway.

Ladbrokes odds for the Strictly Come Dancing winner 2019 are:

  • Kelvin- 2/5
  • Emma – 5/2
  • Karim – 12/1
