Big Brother legend Chantelle Houghton says ‘get me in’ ITV reboot

Big Brother host reveal – coming soon to ITV2 & ITVX

Celebrity Big Brother winner Chantelle Houghton has revealed she would go back into the house “in a heartbeat” if the opportunity arose.

Chantelle, now 39, won the reality series 17 years ago and is “thrilled” the social experiment is being revived by ITV later this year.

In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, the mother-of-one opened up about her experience in the Big Brother house, her romance with The Ordinary Boys’ star Preston and her excitement about the show returning.

When asked if she would go back into the house and share all in the diary room, the brunette beauty exclaimed: “Yes, I definitely would, but it would be very different for me this time as I am two decades older and I am a mum as well and I have responsibilities.

“Whereas previously, when I first went in I had zero responsibility whatsoever – I lived at home with my parents.”

“It would be a very different experience for me being away from home and my daughter. But oh, 100 percent, get me in there!”

Chantelle was working part-time at a make-up counter in London’s West End before her break on Big Brother.

She was in the house with a range of famous faces including the late Pete Burns, Jodi Marsh, Dennis Rodman and Michael Barrymore who she had to trick into thinking she was a celebrity in her own right.

Chantelle had to pretend she was part of a girl band called Kandy Floss – which her fellow housemates fell for – and she went on to be crowned the 2006 winner.

Reflecting on the series, Chantelle revealed: “I certainly get a lot of messages on my social media platforms and lots of people saying they miss Big Brother being on their screens and I still get people messaging me.

“The other day one person said that they were watching my Big Brother series because they missed the show much.

“There was such a great concept because so many reality shows nowadays are all geared towards dating and love, whereas Big Brother started out as a social experiment.

“Obviously, I did find love in there and bagged myself a husband!”

Chantelle’s unexpected romance with Preston gripped viewers and the pair went on to get married in August 2006 at Dartmouth House in Mayfair, London.

However, to the shock of their fans, the couple ended up getting divorced in November 2007.

Chantelle holds no ill feelings towards her ex and said they will be “friends for life” as they are still in touch with one another.
