It seems soaps are a great way to start a romance, as Coronation Street has apparently forged yet another off-screen relationship.

According to The Sun, Joe Duttine and Sally Carman – who play Tim Metcalfe and Abi Franklin – are now officially dating after going public with their romance at the soap’s summer party.

While Joe has played Tim in the soap since 2013, Sally made her first appearance on the cobbles as Abi last year, as Seb’s troubled mum.

Digital Spy reached out to Coronation Street, which declined to comment.

While things might be going well in Sally’s love life off-screen, the same can’t exactly be said for on it – as Abi recently got herself involved in a very messy love triangle.

Yes, in last night’s (August 8) Corrie, Abi shared a drunken kiss with the very-much-engaged Steve McDonald.

Upset after discovering that her children would rather be with their foster parents, Abi ran away to the tram station, where she was eventually comforted by Steve.

Steve found her in a drunken state and challenged her to get her act together after a small bag of heroin fell out of her bag. After convincing her to rebuild her relationship with her children, she gratefully kissed him on the lips.

We wouldn’t want to be either of them when Tracy Barlow finds out…

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
