Coronation Street star Sally Carman has confirmed that Abi Franklin and Kevin Webster will split in upcoming episodes.

Only recently on the ITV soap, Abi, played by Sally, 40, was left devastated after her onscreen son Seb Franklin was murdered by Corey Brent and his gang in a hate crime earlier this year.

On Friday's episodes, Kelly Neelan was sent down for Seb's murder while killer Corey walked away without a scratch against his name.

Speaking in a new interview, Abi star Sally has revealed that her character only has revenge on her mind following the outcome of her son's trial and she consequently ends her relationship with Kevin.

Talking to Metro.co.uk, she said: "She leaves Kevin, because she can’t let it go, what’s happened. She’s not quite sure what she’s going to do, or maybe she is, but whatever she does, she knows she can’t involve Kevin or Jack.

"It wouldn’t be fair. She loves the bones of the pair of them, which is the reason why she has to leave them, because she needs to have a think about how she can solve the injustice of what’s happened."

Asked whether the two characters could reunite, Sally added: "They always manage to work something out. I have faith in how much faith they have in each other."

The publication also teases that Abi will be delivering her own justice on Corey for Coronation Street's super soap week and the actress has been doing night shoots for the scenes.

It comes after soap watchers were left in pieces as they watched killer Corey walk away from the high-stakes trial without a scratch against his name on Friday's episodes.

Instead, Kelly was sent down for Seb's murder after Corey's false testimony and prosecutor Sabeen's attack convinced the jury she was guilty.

Nina – who had been suffering from memory loss – may have remembered that Corey killed her boyfriend Seb in harrowing flashback scenes, but it wasn't enough to see him sent down.

The dramatic scenes have been dubbed "a travesty of justice" as outraged viewers took to Twitter in dismay.
