Coronation Street's Sally Dynevor 'proud' as daughter Hattie lands first TV role

Coronation Street legend Sally Dynevor couldn’t contain her joy after her daughter Hattie confirmed her role in Waterloo Road.

The 19-year-old is the daughter of the soap actress, who plays Sally Metcalfe in the ITV soap, and the sister of Phoebe Dynevor, who stars as Daphne in hit Netflix series Bridgerton.

Sharing a picture of her daughter in character, Sally penned: ‘So proud of you @hattiedynevorr joining @waterlooroad playing Libby Guthrie. Such a fabulous cast and crew.’

The star’s Corrie co-stars rushed to congratulate Hattie with actress Jane Danson (Leanne Battersby) replying: ‘Beautiful lady- just like her Mum x.’

Sally’s former Dancing on Ice partner Matt Evers also showed some with a string of heart emojis.

‘Hattie bagging a part on Waterloo Road sees the Dynevors become a real acting dynasty,’ an insider recently told The Sun.

‘It is a no-brainer for the show and a shrewd move for her too.

‘Not many fledgling stars would get a part on such a big drama so early in their career.

‘But they’re confident she has the skills to do the job — after all the ability to perform runs in the family.’

Joining Hattie in series 13 of the BBC school drama are Zak Sutcliffe as Schumacher Weever, Maisey Robinson as Portia Weever, Tillie Armartey as Stacey ‘Stace’ Neville and Aabay Ali as Mollie ‘Mog’ Richardson.

Hattie’s mum Sally has portrayed fan-favourite Sally Metcalfe on Coronation Street since the 1980s.

The cobbles icon was awarded an MBE last year for services to drama for her years on the ITV soap.

Speaking about her nomination when she was named in the New Year Honours list last year, Sally said: ‘I am humbled, grateful and very proud to have received this honour. I am still in shock.

‘I didn’t believe it was real when I first found out earlier this month that I was to be given an MBE. Keeping it a secret has been so difficult.’
