Corrie fans will recognise Dr Thorne star from rival soap amid Peter showdown

Coronation Street newcomer Dr Henry Thorne recently made Peter Barlow a life-changing offer after the latter discovered the surgeon rushed his liver transplant as part of a bet.

Peter launched an official complaint against the medical practitioner, but then undermined himself when he was goaded into punching Dr Thorne in the face.

In recent scenes, Carla Connor (Alison King) warned Peter to think carefully about rejecting the sum of money on offer from Thorne.

Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) also pointed out to his dad that £100,000 could change their lives forever.

As Peter began to waver, Dr Thorne clocks their exchange.

He later went to meet up with Tricia the nurse and, realising she can’t offer any new evidence, confined that he’s thinking of giving up the fight.

The evil medical expert is played by actor Dominic Mafham and fans may recognise him from his several other TV roles.

He appeared in ITV drama Grantchester as well as BBC series Killing Eve.

Dominic also provided the voice of Chidak in Doctor Who: The Final Phase and Doctor Who: The Dalek contract in 2013.

In 1995, the actor played Matthew Castle in Castles and between 2000 and 2001 he played Dr Andrew Argyle in Always and Everyone.

He’s also roles appearances in Silent Witness, Our Mutual Friend, The Bill, Casualty, Midsomer Murders, Land Girls and DCI Banks

As they await the verdict on Thorne from the GMC later this week, Carla urges Peter to be grateful for his health and focus on their future.

Mr Thorne meets Peter in the pub and orders him not to undo all his skilled work and embrace the second chance he has to live.

As the surgeon gets into his car Peter can no longer contain his rage and angrily confronts him.

Peter takes matters into his own hands as he swings the club, shattering the windscreen of Thorne’s beloved vehicle.

Fans will have to wait and see the outcome of the showdown between the two men.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV at 8pm
