The long-standing This Morning presenter has appeared on the show alongside his wife Ruth Langsford since 2005, but his stint will be coming to an end now he is said to have decided to switch to rival channel GB News. The channel was started this year after being spearheaded by Andrew Neil as an “anti-woke” outlet for news. Eamonn is expected to front his own show on the channel after his comments during the pandemic saw him and ITV flooded with Ofcom complaints.
Just a few months later, he and Ruth were dropped from their Friday slot on This Morning and replaced by Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond.
Talking about Eamonn’s exit from ITV, a source said: “Eamonn’s move to GB News marks the end of an era.
“He’ll be missed by many ITV viewers but, the truth is, this job offer probably came at just the right moment for both him and ITV.”
Speaking to The Mirror, they continued: “All good things come to an end.”
