EastEnders’ Ben Mitchell sparks concern as he heads for breakdown

EastEnders: Ben Mitchell tells Callum Highway he loves him

Fans of EastEnders have aired concerns for Ben (played by Max Bowden) as he seems to have shown signs of an eating disorder in recent episodes.

The mechanic seems to be struggling to cope with everything on his mind, including a recent update about his rapist, Lewis Butler (Aidan O’Callaghan).

Instead of turning to his friends and family for help, Ben has been keeping his suffering to himself.

Upcoming episodes of the BBC soap indicate Ben is set to spiral further out of control and things continue to get on top of him.

In scenes yet to air, Ben’s mum Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) begins to excitedly plan her Eurovision-themed birthday party, but she notices her son is strung out and exhausted.

Meanwhile, despite being in terrible pain and tired, Lola soldiers on with work at the salon.

Callum Highway (Tony Clay) begs Ben to slow down with his own work, but he’s hell-bent on doing everything for Lola and Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick).

After a difficult day, Lola accepts she needs to stop working and informs Jay and Ben.

Alone, Ben breaks down with exhaustion, and when he turns up to the party, he’s horrified to realise forgotten to pick up his daughter, Lexi.

Struggling with Jay and Lola’s reaction, Ben knocks back the booze and then picks a fight with Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota).

As fists are about to fly, Lola screams at Ben to stop. As his loved ones look at him in horror, Ben realises he’s gone too far.

Does he end up stopping before seriously injuring Vinny? And will anyone be able to step in and help Ben to tackle his growing issues?

EastEnders continues on Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
