Emmerdale Harriet star teases ‘explosive’ feud with Kim Tate and Will revelation

Emmerdale star Katherine Dow-Blyton has hinted that Harriet Finch is set to have an "explosive" feud with Kim Tate for the soap's 50th anniversary.

The ITV soap, which began in 1972, will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a whole month of stories this October, which bosses said will "make you laugh, make you cry, make you surprised and stunts that are going to rock your world".

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star and other press, Emmerdale Executive Producer Jane Hudson revealed that Harriet is set to declare her undying love for Will Taylor on the eve of his wedding to Kim Tate – but that Kim overhears.

The revelation is set to cause an "explosive" row between Harriet and Kim, with Jane saying: "Kim will also overhear Harriet declaring her undying love to Will, so obviously that will inspire a lot of fireworks. She's not very happy about that."

Harriet actress Katherine added: "Harriet has once again got herself mixed up with men problems," saying: "She's getting wrapped up in Will's life a little too much than she should be, and that obviously has an impact on his upcoming nuptials."

Declaring that Will was "Harriet's man first", Katherine said that her character has one last chance to be with Will before he marries Kim Tate.

"It's last chance saloon. She's got to make her feelings known before he walks down the aisle. After that, that's it," said Katherine.

However, after Kim overhears Harriet's declaration of love, sparks are set to fly, with Katherine hinting at a potential feud between the two.

Katherine explained: "Harriet is no Kim Tate, but they're both feisty women and able to look after themselves.

"There'll be fireworks. They'll have their moments."

The 50th anniversary episode, due to be broadcast on October 16 will focus on the wedding of Kim and Will, with Jane Hudson teasing: "Everyone connected to Kim and Will has got a major part to play in the 50th storyline."

Katherine and Jane's comments followed news about the Emmerdale 50th anniversary celebrations, which include an anniversary week that will focus on a "massive storm" which will "rip through the village and absolutely leave a massive trail of destruction in its wake".

Although it is not known how the storm will affect Kim and Will's upcoming nuptials, Jane teased: "Some of our best loved villagers will be in peril and it is safe to safe that the village won't be the same after this – and it won't be the same again, because the impact this storm has on people's lives is just massive."
