Emmerdale spoilers: Jamie Tate and Graham Foster hiding secret past – here’s why

Jamie (played by Alexander Lincoln) made an unfortunate reintroduction to the Emmerdale village when he accidentally ran over Dales’ legend Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) during tonight’s instalment of the ITV soap.

The horrifying crash also involved Megan Macey (Gaynor Faye), and questions still surround whether Eric will survive his ordeal, with Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter) and David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) told the millionaire had a brain bleed and needed surgery.

Yet amongst the drama, ex-convict Kim (Claire King) was determined to keep her son around, and desperately tried to convince him to stay.

The upsetting scenes saw Jamie tell his mother the reason he didn’t want to stay was due to her repeated scheming, claiming he didn’t want to be like her or “be the bad guy”.

But as the conversation intensified, Jamie might have let slip the truth – it could all be because of Graham (Andrew Scarborough).

Kim insisted she simply “cut corners” at first, as Jamie told her that didn’t excuse her behaviour.

“You, you do this stuff deliberately,” he accused his mother. “You walk over people. Crush them and their families just because they get in your way.”

“I give them chance to get out the way first,” a puzzled Kim snapped back. “What does any of that have to do with us? What did I do that was so so awful that you ran from me? I thought you loved me.”

As Kim demanded to know what had changed once more, Jamie explained: “I realised you couldn’t, change. All the people I cared about, you’d just end up hurting them. Or getting some minion to do it for you.”

Was the minion Jamie referred to actually Graham? Have the duo had secret conversations?

You wanna know why I didn’t come visit you in prison?

When the ex-soldier suddenly appeared in Home Farm, it was clear there was a tense atmosphere between the two men, and Graham even put on an incredibly sinister smile.

“Still keeping your little hatchet job man around,” Jamie said coldly.

“You wanna know why I didn’t come visit you in prison?” the vet went on. “Because I knew you’d have plenty of company to keep scheming with.

“We’re done, I’m nothing to you.”

Jamie slammed out of the front door in anger, but there could be a serious event from his past that involved Graham, and Kim seemed to miss it.

Only concerned with finding a way to get her son to stay in the village, Kim said: “He was this close to cracking before you blundered in.

“Half a day – that’s all it took, even when I showed him the keys.

“He stuck around to fight, he still cares.

Still proving she wasn’t going to change her ways, Kim declared ominously: “I will get my son back.”

Emmerdale continues tomorrow at 7pm on ITV.
