GB News hit by tech problems and 'fuzzy' picture as Andrew Neil launches channel with rallying speech

GB News launched tonight with a rousing speech from its boss, former BBC politics supremo Andrew Neil.

However, some fans were left complaining about the grainy picture and at one point the sound cut out and a woman was heard whispering.

Andrew, 72, opened the new 24-hour news and opinion channel at 8pm tonight sitting behind a desk with a GB News mug beside him.

He told viewers in an emotional speech: "We are proud to be British – the clue is in the name.

"While we will never hold back from covering our country's many flaws and problems, we will not come at every story with the conviction that Britain is always at fault.

"Usually to blame when things go wrong, generally useless. We will cover the good news as well as the bad."

But many remarked on the picture, with one writing: "Oh dear @GBNEWS poor picture quality and audio out of sync."

A second tweeted: "Sound out of sync with picture. Fuzzy picture. Not a good start."

Whispering was also heard while historian Neil Oliver spoke to Andrew, with a woman saying: "Well I don't know" as the sound went quiet.

The host was forced to cut across Neil saying: "Let me interrupt you. We've lost your mic a little bit."

They later returned to the historian while other presenters were interviewed by Andrew so they could introduce themselves.

Other hosts interviewed in the special programme were former Sky News host Colin Brazier and ex-ITV newsreader Alastair Stewart.

Also on the bill are ex-Apprentice star Michelle Dewberry and broadcaster Dan Wootton.
