Emmerdale actor Steve Halliwell has sadly passed away at the of 77, his family have announced.
His death was announced on Friday, 15 December in statements shared by both his family and Emmerdale. Steve's cause of death has not been confirmed.
The actor's family said: "He went to sleep, peacefully with his loved ones around him. He was making us laugh to the end, the most amazing father and grandfather you could ever wish for, family was everything to him. We would like to thank the wonderful staff at St James Hospital and the Wheatfield Hospice for their love and kindness in his final days. He didn't want sadness, just to rejoice in a life well lived."
Steve had portrayed Zak Dingle in hit ITV soap since 1994 and was Emmerdale's second longest-serving cast member as of 2023.
