He might not particularly want to be one, but the legendary Mark Hamill truly is our ultimate Jedi Master – both on and off screen.
Case in point: this genuinely heartwarming response Mark had for a mum concerned about her daughter who was worried about owning her love of Star Wars.
“My 7 year old daughter’s crying in bed right now because she wants to wear her Star Wars t-shirt to school but is scared her classmates will laugh because she likes ‘boy stuff’,” the mum wrote on Twitter.
“I’m so sad/angry for her. Please RT and comment so I can show her how awesome girl #StarWars fans are,” she added.
Despite not even being tagged in the original tweet, Mark offered up some of the sweetest and badass advice to the mum and her young daughter (who has excellent taste, obviously).
“Just tell her to feel free to use this gesture if her classmates give her any grief,” he said, sharing a GIF of that Last Jedi moment. “‘Boy stuff’? PLEASE!
“The Force is, & always will be strong with females here on Earth & in galaxies far, far away,” he wrote, before signing off with love.
No, we’re not crying – you’re crying.
He also followed up his advice with another gem later on, after his advice proved so popular it got its own Twitter moment.
“Remember when Princess Leia took command over her own rescue?” he added. “I’ve never forgotten. She was FIERCE & not exactly a ‘damsel in distress’! #FemmePower.”
Not that he hadn’t already earned it, but Mark’s feminist Force response just shows how deserving his very recent receipt of a Hollywood Walk of Fame star is. Take that, Shatner.
Mark celebrated yesterday’s (March 8) long-overdue accolade by attending the ceremony with his Star Wars colleagues Harrison Ford, George Lucas and even R2-D2. Iconic.
