Fan reactions to the latest addition to the cast of NCIS have been overwhelmingly positive so far. Although Jessica Knight (played by Katrina Law) is only appearing in the last two episodes of the CBS staple’s 18th season, there’ll be plenty of opportunities for the new character to appear once the series returns.
Newcomer Jessica Knight has already made a strong impression on NCIS fans after her debut in the penultimate episode of season 18.
Katrina Law, best known for her regular roles in Spartacus and Arrow, received a warm reception when her Special Agent entered the fold in this week’s thrilling instalment.
Episode 15, ‘Blown Away’, kicked off when a devastating explosion wipes out an NCIS training team.
As the lone survivor, Knight steps in to help crack the case, and impresses McGee (Sean Murray) and the team with her hostage negotiation skills.
While CBS have yet to confirm her role in the future, it seems the doors are open for Law to reprise her role in the recently renewed season 19.
The newcomer will also be appearing in next week’s highly anticipated finale, ‘Rule 91’.
Following her widely praised introduction, fans may expect to see the upcoming episode pave the way for Knight to eventually become a permanent member of the NCIS team.
Rumours that Agents Leroy Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and Ellie Bishop (Emily Wickersham) will eventually step down or take on a part time role have also fuelled speculation that Katrina Law has been brought in as their replacement.
Once the new episode had rolled out on Tuesday night, viewers took to social media to voice their support for Agent Knight’s potential return.
On Twitter, one fan said: “I hope to see Jessica Knight join our #NCIS family on a weekly basis.”
Knight started off the episode ruffling some feathers by making herself comfortable in Gibbs’ old desk.
Although the former team leader is currently on indefinite suspension, the agents aren’t quite ready to fully move on from his departure.

Even so, many fans interpreted the final exchange between Knight and McGee as an invitation for the new agent to join the team permanently.
Another viewer speculated: “McGee: Well You don’t belong at Gibbs desk but we might find you one. That’s this fan’s interpretation.”
Alternatively, others even suggested that Knight could also be a welcome addition to the newly announced spin-off, NCIS: Hawaii.
CBS’s upcoming offshoot has already cast Vanessa Lachey as the series’ lead, but the overwhelmingly positive reactions to the new agent could help round out the team.
“Was hoping Katrina Law (Agent knight) was gonna be a backdoor pilot character to NCIS: Hawaii,” one fan speculated.
And another said: “Katrina Law should’ve been chosen to lead NCIS: Hawaii. She would’ve been the perfect strong female lead.”
With just one episode left before NCIS takes its summer break, an explosive new promo has already teased next week’s finale as one fans absolutely won’t want to miss.
NCIS season 18 concludes Tuesday, May 25 on CBS.
