Nicola McLean says ‘boring’ I’m A Celeb Frankie ‘won’t risk Loose Women axe’

Nicola McLean has brought her savage no-filter opinions to her first Daily Star I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! column and her thoughts this week lay with Frankie Bridge, who she say is treading too carefully.

The former I'm A Celeb star has slammed producers for choosing a "squeaky clean" cast who aren't bringing the drama, pointing out that contestants like Loose Women's Frankie is "boring".

The 40-year-old told Daily Star exclusively: "I do understand that people aren't finding it amazing because it's not as good as the jungle for sure.

"They just go with too many PC people. I know it sounds bad because it's nice to watch people getting on but let's be honest, we want a bit of juice, we want a romance, we want an argument, but with people like Frankie Bridge, who is lovely don't get me wrong, but with the argument with Naughty Boy…

"Imagine if that was me, I would have been like 'don't come at me about f***ing rice, you cook the f***ing rice if you want'.

"I would have caused more of a problem."

Nicola starred in the hit ITV series back in 2008 and was joined by the likes of David Van Day – who she famously feuded with – plus stars like Simon Webbe and Joe Swash.

Carrying on her rant about Frankie, she said: "The thing is I actually like Frankie but I wanna say 'bless her' but half of me thinks 'oh, for goodness sake, why are you crying over rice? Just tell him!'

"But I do think she was wrong to say 'our camp' to him… She obviously did mean 'our camp' but she didn't like that she said it because she is a very sweet girl."

Nicola went on to explain that she believes Frankie is trying to come across like last year's winner of the show Giovanna Fletcher, who was known for her bubbly and kind persona.

She explained: "Listen, she's ITV talent, she don't wanna cause any problems, she wants to go in there, be adorable and look amazing and come out a winner or finalist. She doesn't want to be a standout star for causing problems, she wants to go in and be the next Giovanna Fletcher. That for me is boring, I like reality TV characters."

The former glamour model went on to explain that Frankie wouldn't ever risk acting up like she did during her stint on the show because she's too worried about losing her ITV presenting contract.

Nicola continued: "You get Frankie Bridge, she's not going to do anything that is going to jeopardise her Loose Women contract, is she?! Same with the soap stars, they're not going to do anything to make their squeaky clean image look badly. Reality TV has been going on for so long now that they are all so media trained.

"This is the problem, they haven't got any loose cannons like I was in there – who would just go f*** it if you piss me off I will tell you -and everyone else is so well behaved and because there is no alcohol they wont even loosen with that."
