Official Trailer of Hulu’s ‘Catch-22’ Hints That There’s No Escape From the Assignment

AceShowbiz -Hulu has unveiled the official trailer for “Catch-22” which stars George Clooney among others. The dark comedy, which is adapted from Joseph Heller’s classic novel of the same name, follows Christopher Abbott‘s Yossarian, a U.S. Air Force bombardier in WWII who is assigned to join Catch-22, much to his dismay.

The video opens with Yossarian trying to avoid his military assignment by any means necessary, including calling himself crazy. “Doc, you can ground me if I’m crazy, right?” he says to a doctor, who responds, “Oh sure. I have to ground anyone who’s crazy.”

“Then ground me! I’m crazy,” he begs. “You’re not crazy,” the doctor says, before calmly explaining that as soon as you ask to get out of combat duty for Catch-22, you’re no longer crazy, so you have to fly more missions. “That’s some catch, that Catch-22,” Yossarian deadpans.

Later, Clooney’s Scheisskopf is making an appearance as he’s seen getting frustrated by his secretary.

Also starring Kyle Chandler as Cathart, the six-part satire drama is about the incomparable artful dodger Yossarian, a U.S. Air Force bombardier in World War II who is furious because thousands of people he has never met are trying to kill him. However, his real problem is not the enemy, but rather his own army, which keeps increasing the number of missions the men must fly to complete their service.

If Yossarian makes any attempt to avoid his military assignments, he’ll be in violation of Catch-22, a hilariously sinister bureaucratic rule which specifies that a concern for one’s own safety in the face of real and immediate danger is the process of a rational mind. A man is considered insane if he willingly continues to fly dangerous combat missions, but a request to be removed from duty is evidence of sanity and therefore makes him ineligible to be relieved from duty.

Besides starring, Clooney directs and serves as producer of the series alongside Grant Helsove on behalf of Smokehouse Pictures. They are joined by Richard Brown and Steve Golin who serve for their Anonymous Content banner. Additionally, Clooney and Helsove are producing with Ellen Kuras, all of whom direct two episodes each of the series.

Luke Davies and David Michod, meanwhile, co-write and executive produce. “Catch-22” is slated to premiere in spring 2019 on Hulu.
