Paul makes an emotional vow before his death in Corrie

Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) was given another reminder that his health is deteriorating in Coronation Street.

The character has motor neurone disease and recently agreed with Billy’s (Daniel Brocklebank) idea of using a walking aid, fully aware that the mobility in his right side is getting worse.

In Wednesday’s (August 23) edition of the ITV soap, Paul headed to the park with Bryn, looking for an escape from an overwhelming birthday party at the bistro.

Just as Paul told his nephew that it was time to leave, the young lad ran off, leaving Paul fearing what could happen next.

He tried to go after Bryn, but the weakness in Paul’s leg caused him to fall over.

Fortunately, Peter (Chris Gascoyne) was nearby and found Bryn. He picked him up, took him back to the park and helped Paul with getting back on his feet.

As Billy and Paul walked back to the flat, Paul had to admit that he’s too tired to walk up the stairs.

With help from Todd (Gareth Pierce), they arrived back and that evening, Paul opened up about his hopes for his and Billy’s wedding.

He said that today made him realise that he should make the most of walking while he’s still able to and then surprised Billy with a plan – he’s going to walk down the aisle when they get married.

Not wanting to pressure him, Billy told a determined Paul that he didn’t have to, but he was full of hope.

‘He’s very, very aware that that time together is coming to an end’, Daniel Brocklebank said.

‘And their time as it stands, is coming to an end, because of course the longer it goes on, the less Paul will be able to do. I think he’s sort of trying to live every moment as we all should, really through general life, because I think we all forget that our time is tied up for all of us anyway. We all get so wrapped up in the b******s of life that we that we forget that actually, we need to celebrate all of these moments because none of us know what’s around the corner.

‘But I think for Billy it’s utterly heart-breaking that he feels like he’s just got this guy back and they’ve got things on track, and he thought that everything was going well, and then all of a sudden, bang! This thing comes in and literally smashes everything out of the park completely dismantles the future that he bought that they were building on.’
