Pose is the glamorous drama all about ballroom culture and the LGBTQ+ community in the 1980s and 1990s. The FX and BBC Two series has been strutting its stuff on TV screens for the past few years but unfortunately, it was time to say goodbye yesterday, Sunday, June 6, as Pose has finished for good. Here’s everything you need to know on how it ended.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Pose.
How did Pose end?
Pray and Blanca won their fight
Pray Tell (played by Billy Porter) and Blanca Rodriguez-Evangelista (MJ Rodriguez) found out about a clinical trial for a new drug for those with AIDS.
Blanca, Christopher (Jeremy Pope) and Judy (Sandra Bernhard) fought particularly hard for Pray as he was growing weaker by the day.
There were only two people of colour taking part in the trial which they argued did not make it scientifically sound.
After lobbying, both Blanca and Pray were able to get in and become part of the trial.
Pray saved Ricky’s life
The two-hour series finale fast-forwarded to a few years in the future and Pray and Ricky Evangelista (Dyllón Burnside) were once again spending loads of time together.
During a quiet moment with the pair, Ricky admitted his condition was worsening.
He showed Pray he had a growing lesion on his chest, to which Pray responded that he had him.
Little did everyone know that Pray would go on to secretly give Ricky his own meds from the trial in order to save him.
Last moment in the spotlight
Pray and Blanca got centre-stage at the ballroom where they lip-synced to Diana Ross’ Aint No Mountain High Enough.
Sadly, this was Pray’s last time on the dance floor as when Ricky went to his apartment, he was lifeless on the bed.
He was rushed to hospital but it was too late as he had already died.
Before he died though, Pray told Blanca what he wanted her do after he had passed.

In memory of Pray
Blanca put some of Pray’s ashes into lockets for all of their friends to wear.
She then dumped the rest of his ashes on the mayor’s lawn in protest to the city’s treatment of AIDS patients.
In the final few moments, there was another time-jump to 1998 which saw Blanca still working as a nurse.
She also remained a house mother, taking care of another LGBTQ+ group representing the House of Evangelista at the balls.
Before the final episode aired, writer, director and producer Ryan Murphy took to Instagram to share a few pictures of the cast.
He wrote: “The series finale of POSE airs tonight on FX. Along with my children, this show is one of the things in my life I am the most proud of.
“Steven Canals, Brad Falchuk and I created the show and then spent six months with casting director Alexa Fogel literally searching the world for our amazing cast.
“Every single one of them brought so much love, personal pain and joy and untapped TALENT to the screen.
“The photos you see above were taken by my better half David Miller when I was directing the POSE pilot over four years ago; the story we were telling felt so fresh, so necessary, and we were all so excited and praying it would get on the air.
“How lucky we all are that the dream became a reality.”
Pose is available to watch on FX and BBC iPlayer.
