'RHOC' Star Vicki Gunvalson Spills 'The Only Thing' She'd Ever Say to Ex-Boyfriend Brooks Ayers

Vicki Gunvalson tells TooFab about life after her relationship with Brooks Ayers, who famously faked having cancer on “The Real Housewives of Orange County.”

Vicki Gunvalson still bears the of scars her five-year relationship with controversial ex-boyfriend Brooks Ayers, who famously faked having cancer on "The Real Housewives of Orange County."

Although she’s moved on and is happy in a new relationship, Vicki told TooFab the "cancer scam BS" that played out over three of the 15 seasons she’s been on the show still haunts her "daily."

"That is something that I’ve had to recover from," she told us when she stopped by Studio TooFab recently. "I feel like the truth always prevails. I can’t change what the network did and what Bravo did and what the evolution of my production company wanted to film because I kept saying, ‘Stop talking about it.’ The girls were talking about it — ‘Stop talking about it.’ I couldn’t get the train to stop rolling."

When asked if she’s maintained any sort of contact with Brooks — who got married earlier this year — Vicki quickly replied, "Oh, God, no! No. Other than ‘When are you gonna be paying me back?’ That would be the only thing I would ever say to him. After that, he basically skated out. He was not a good partner, and I thought he was, so that was my bad."

Despite being the original Housewife of the original franchise, Vicki said she has no say when it comes to the show’s production.

"If I would’ve had any creative visions or dreams, I would have not filmed three of those seasons," she said, adding that the Brooks’ cancer storyline "almost killed" her.

"That was super hard on me. Super, super hard on me," she said. "I mean, I went into a major depression. Major, major. It was horrible because it felt like I was in quicksand and didn’t know how to get out of it."

Vicki said she spoke to Andy Cohen and other showrunners about her issue with the storyline, telling TooFab she "flew out to New York several times." She said the response she got was something along the lines of, "We’re following the reality of what the girls are feeling."

Vicki has been dating her current boyfriend, Steve Lodge, for two years — and she told TooFab he’s officially moved into her Orange County home.

"My life is very exciting going forward," she said. "If Steve and I decide to get married, we’ve got that whole new journey of blending our families. I don’t know what God has in store for me; I just know that my story isn’t over yet."

"The Real Housewives of Orange County" airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
