Since the death of Oliver, Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) in Coronation Street has been hiding away from everyone, and even pretended she was in France for Christmas, and was actually in the flat on her own.
With Leanne struggling to sleep and finding things difficult, she gets help from Simon (Alex Bain) soon, as he steps up to support his mum in emotional scenes.
Leanne calls the doctors to request sleeping pills. She later admits to Dr Gaddas (Christine Mackie) she’s been pretending to be in France and seeing her anguish, Dr Gaddas prescribes sleeping tablets and an appointment for Leanne.
Leanne takes two pills and lies down on the sofa but as Simon enters, he’s horrified to find Leanne passed out on the sofa next to a bottle of sleeping pills and calls an ambulance.
An embarrassed Leanne admits she just took one too many and had no intention of harming herself. Simon’s shocked to learn she never went to France and has been alone in the flat for weeks.
Leanne breaks down, and Simon tells her that it’s time he looked after her for a change.
With Leanne clearly in a dark place, can young Simon really manage to look after his mum and grieve for his brother too?
