Damn, NBC is a hot mess.
The peacock network has changed its mind about Timeless yet again. One month after canceling the cult hit for a second time, NBC announced that it has ordered a two-part finale to give “closure to the globetrotting series.” Although an official air date has not been confirmed, the wrap-up movie will premiere during the holidays.
The Season 2 finale of Timeless, which aired on May 13, ended on quite the cliffhanger: Future versions of both Lucy and Wyatt were transported to the present-day bunker with a potential plan that could save their dead teammate, Rufus. Suffice to say, we need an end to this doozy of a chapter!
“While we wish we could’ve made another dozen seasons of Timeless, this is the next best thing,” stated executive producers Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke in a joint statement. “We’re thrilled to take the Lifeboat out for one last spin and bring closure to our story. The studio, network, cast and crew are all doing this for one reason only: the fans. Because they deserve it. Because the fans made this happen and we thank them for their, support and helicopters. So? You guys want to get Rufus back or what?”
The entire cast, including Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, Goran Visnjic, Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey, and Claudia Doumit are on board. The high stakes, two-hour extravaganza will focus on the unsung heroes of history. You can also expect to see one final gut-wrenching story for Time Team.
