The X Factor‘s new boyband Misunderstood appeared on Britain’s Got Talent eight years ago.
Stephan Benson and Jeffrey Okyere debuted on BGT in 2010 as part of a singing dance troupe called Myztikal – who made it all the way to the semi-finals.
After Myztikal disbanded, Stephan and Jeffrey carried on as a duo, with the pair collaborating with X Factor winners Little Mix, Britney Spears songwriter Maegan Cottone and will.i.am. And in 2017, Stephan also took an acting role in Bring It On: Worldwide Cheersmack.
Misunderstood performed their own song, ‘Juicy Fruit’, on Saturday’s X Factor (September 1), and got four yeses from the judges following a standing ovation.
Louis Tomlinson said: “I’m not the biggest fan of dance because a lot of the time it’s not really executed as well as that. That was absolutely brilliant.”
And Robbie Williams was impressed too, telling the pair: “That was song was incredible – I can hear that on the radio, I can see you on the TV. You were born to do this.”
Simon Cowell added: “The reason this show is called The X Factor is because it’s something indefinable. You can’t put words on it, but you know it’s amazing. You two have the X Factor.”
Also making their debut in the X Factor series opener this weekend were Robbie Williams, Ayda Field and Louis Tomlinson – though the new panel divided viewers.
The X Factor airs on ITV.
