The actress who is playing the Prime Minister’s fiance in a new Covid-19 TV drama has made her pro-Labour views clear on her social media. 

Ophelia Lovibond will play Carrie Symonds in the upcoming drama about Boris Johnson’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic. 

Sir Kenneth Branagh will play the Prime Minister in the new series This Sceptred Isle which is being made by SKYTV. 

Lovibond is known for her roles in Guardians Of The Galaxy and comedy series Feel Good.

She took to Instagram to criticise Cabinet minister and Leader of the House Jacob Rees-Mogg ahead of the 2019 general election, after images emerged of him lounging on the front benches of the House of Commons. 

‘This behaviour is an absolute disgrace,’ she wrote at the time. 

‘Jacob Rees-Mogg’s slouching across the front benches during one of the most consequential debates in parliamentary history is the physical embodiment of arrogance, entitlement, disrespect and contempt for parliament and the People.’

Her account also shows a brief clip of Boris Johnson saying ‘Inequality is essential’, referencing a speech made by the Prime Minister in 2013. 

Uploaded on December 11, 2019, she wrote alongside the clip: ‘If you’re not sure who to vote for tomorrow, watch this.’ 

With a cast of 243 characters, including a doggie actor playing Dilyn, This Sceptred Isle promises to reveal the true story of Boris Johnson’s first year in No 10. 

Producers say the drama will document how the Prime Minister has dealt with the pandemic, his own health battle with Covid-19 and the birth of his son Wilfred. 

Produced by the TV firm Freemantle, the drama is being co-written and directed by Michael Winterbottom, a staunch Labour supporter. 

It is set to detail the fallout surrounding Dominic Cummings’ trip to Barnard Castle during lockdown.

It comes as one of Boris Johnson’s key Brexit advisors resigned from his anti-Scottish independence role last month amid a new outbreak of infighting among the Prime Minister’s backroom team – where more allies of Carrie Symonds are taking key positions. 

Oliver Lewis, who was right-hand man to chief Brexit negotiator Lord Frost, walked out of No 10 after he angrily denied claims of disloyalty. Reports say Mr Lewis left after he was blamed by Miss Symonds and her allies for leaking.

According to reports, Miss Symonds, nicknamed ‘Princess Nut Nut’ by Cummings allies, had been a key player in the removal of Dominic Cummings and former director of communications Lee Cain – as well as being involved in the decision to bring in Baroness Finn as deputy chief of staff and senior advisor Henry Newman.
