A Long Island nurse was fatally stabbed by her ex-con boyfriend, who left her to die in the woods, police sources told The Post on Friday.
Sandra McIntosh, 46, had just finished her shift at 7:30 p.m. at Stony Brook University Hospital in Suffolk County on July 22 when ex Wayne Chambers, 49, picked her up in her car, according to sources and a report.
Chambers — an ex-con who had served more than a decade in prison for a Bronx robbery — was supposed to then pick up his things from McIntosh’s house, the victim’s sister told the local ABC-TV affiliate.
The dying nurse was found around 8 that night in a wooded area of Holtsville on Woodlawn Avenue after a resident heard her pleas for help, according to Suffolk police.
She was taken to the hospital where she worked and died.
Chambers, who had allegedly taken off in McIntosh’s Lexus RX350 SUV after the slaying, was nabbed Friday and charged with her murder, police sources said.
He was previously convicted of robbery in the first degree in 1999 and served 14 years of his 19-year sentence in prison, state records show.
