A farmer has been left fizzing after an articulated lorry spilled thousands of bottles of fizzy drinks into his field.

The 18-wheel HGV overturned on the A697 in Thrunton, Northumberland on Saturday morning, crashing through the farmer’s fence.

Pictures show the field littered with the truck’s cargo – thousands of bottles of Fanta Orange, Diet Coke and water.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency teams cleaned up the mess and the lorry driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

‘The lorry was completely full of fizzy pop bottles. I’m told several burst, meaning the ground is boggy and very sticky,’ a witness told SWNS.

‘Luckily, no one was injured but I wouldn’t fancy opening any of the bottles, they’ve definitely been shaken up.’
