M25 is closed near Heathrow airport after car crashes into lorry in horror smash

The M25 is closed this morning after a car crashed into a lorry in a horror smash near Heathrow Airport.

National Highways says the ‘serious collision’ has resulted in a clockwise closure between Junction 14 (Stanwell Moor/Heathrow Airport) and Junction 16 (M40).

An investigation is underway, but officials expect the closure to be ‘protracted and in place for a considerable time today.’

A diversion is in place, but there is currently over 1 mile of congestion approaching the J14. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area, reroute their morning commute and allow for extra travel time.

Emergency personnel responded to the reports of the multi-car collision just before midnight yesterday.

Little is known about the incident at this time, but National Highways has confirmed it was a ‘serious collision involving two cars and a lorry.’

Photographs from the scene seemingly show that a passenger vehicle smashed into the rear of the truck. The car appears to have suffered significant damage.

Metropolitan Police and National Highways Traffic Officers currently remain on scene as the collision investigation is carried out.

London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service also attended the scene.
