Man fatally stabbed, another shot at separate barbecues

Two barbecues turned fatal Saturday, leaving one man dead in the Bronx and the son of an NYPD detective dead in Brooklyn, officials said.

Ean Bethea-Windsor, 26 of Flatbush was stabbed in the neck just after 4 p.m. as he attended a barbecue in a communal courtyard at the Breukelen Houses on East 108th Street near Glenwood Road in Canarsie, cops said.

Bethea-Windsor, whose father is a detective, was taken to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A 31-year-old Long Island man has been taken into custody, although motive is still unclear at this time, police said

Hours later in the Bronx, Melshawn Cook, 22 of Foxhurst, was shot in the right side of his torso while at a backyard barbecue on Wheeler Avenue near Westchester Avenue in Soundview just before 10 p.m., officials said.

Cook was taken to Jacobi Medical Center where he died.

Authorities are still searching for the shooter.
