Friends of Meghan Markle say she has no regrets about the bombshell Oprah interview and that the royal family should be ‘relieved’ that she didn’t go into more detail about what went on behind palace doors.
An insider with close ties to Meghan tells DailyMail.com exclusively, ‘[Meghan] said she has absolutely no regrets about what was said during the interview and that speaking with Oprah was both cathartic and transformative – the best decision she ever made, other than marrying Harry.
‘Meghan said the Royal institution should be relieved that she didn’t name names or go into even more details of what went on behind closed doors. She said she stands by her truth and that ultimately everyone involved wins because it’s now all out in the open and from there the healing can begin.’
Meghan and Harry’s allegation a senior royal asked Harry how ‘dark’ Archie’s skin would be is among the most damaging to the royals – but the couple refused to reveal who said it in order to protect them.

The insider said, ‘Meghan said the Royal institution should be relieved that she didn’t name names or go into even more details of what went on behind closed doors’
The source revealed to DailyMail.com, ‘Meghan said waiting to share her story with the entire world seemed like an eternity and that she couldn’t happier with the end result.
‘Meghan said in order to preserve her well-being, especially now that she’s pregnant, she will not expose herself to any toxic news stemming from the interview. She said she’s moved on, but is open to communicating with anyone from the Royal family who wants to engage in a constructive conversation.
‘Meghan credits her mom and Princess Diana for giving them (Meghan and Harry) the strength and courage to come forward and tell it like it is. She said it was especially nerve-wracking for Harry to show his vulnerability, and that she’s incredibly proud of him.
‘She added title or no title, Harry will always be her prince.’
This comes as the Queen broke her silence Tuesday in a statement, saying ‘while some recollections may vary’ the ‘whole family is saddened’ to hear of the couple’s ‘challenging few years’.
Her full statement read: ‘The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.
‘The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.
‘Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members.’
It is understood the Queen waited until Tuesday to comment on the tell-all interview with Oprah so Britons had the chance to watch it first – but they are not expected to make any further comments.

In the Oprah interview, Charles was personally referenced by Prince Harry, who said he felt ‘really let down’ by his father after he allegedly refused to answer his calls during his time in Canada.
Harry also claimed his family had cut him off financially and suggested the Queen had been badly advised and had canceled a meeting scheduled at Sandringham.
Discussing his father, Harry said: ‘I feel really let down because he’s been through something similar. He knows what pain feels like. I will always love him, but there’s a lot of hurt that’s happened. And I will continue to make it one of my priorities to try and heal that relationship.’
The Prince of Wales – who is said to be ‘absolutely devastated’ at Harry’s claims he cut him off – spoke to medics, clerics and patients at Jesus House church near Brent Cross in London Tuesday.
He was alone for that visit, although Camilla joined him later for trips to a vaccination center in Elephant and Castle, south London, and the headquarters of NHS England.

Meghan and Harry accused an unnamed Royal Family member of racism, suggesting the relative had asked ‘how dark’ their baby would be; said they had been driven out of Britain, in part, by racism; and accused the Palace machinery of failing to support a ‘suicidal’ Meghan.

Harry has ruled out the Queen and Prince Philip as having made the comments about Archie but left other royals under suspicion.
Charles is said to be ‘deeply’ concerned over the racism claims, with a source saying: ‘It goes against everything the Prince of Wales believes in. He believes diversity is the strength of our society.’
