One person died and two others were injured when a fire broke out in an Upper West Side apartment building Monday morning, an FDNY spokesman said.
The blaze broke out around 10:15 a.m. on the third floor of a nine-story building on West 87th Street near Amsterdam Avenue, the spokesman said.
More than 60 firefighters and EMS personnel responded to the blaze, which was placed under control about 40 minutes later.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other victims — including one person with serious but non-life-threatening injuries — were taken to area hospitals, authorities said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
