The UK’s youngest CEO who employs five staff including his own mother to research the next big trend for Generation Z insists that all his employees pass his ‘cool test’.
Jenk Oz, 13, runs iCoolKid, a website aimed at eight to 15-year-olds where staff write about anything and everything ‘worth seeing, wearing, listening to or checking out’.
The company, funded by Oz’s parents former Goldman Sachs managing director Carmen Greco and his surgeon father, employs five full-time staff from their office in a garage in Mayfair, reports the Telegraph.
Each of these adult staff members goes through a rigorous interview process – including a final-stage interview with Jenk himself where he asks them the most important question: ‘How do you understand “cool”?’

Jenk told the Telegraph: ‘It’s stuff that’s going to pop. If people in our office haven’t found something cool within 10 seconds, then we won’t publish it.’
The company hope to gain an insight into Generation Z, who are the ones encouraging their family to buy the latest gadgets and entertainment systems.
Unfortunately his business plan isn’t working just yet – but the company are now planning to be profitable within three years.

The website has 5,000 visitors a day and the company have more than 140,000 followers across their social media platforms – which Jenk ensures are firmly ‘on-brand’.
Jenk hopes that iCoolKid will give him financial stability while he tries to become a professional actor.
Despite heading off to one of the country’s top boy schools in September, Jenk plans to keep up with his role as ‘curator of cool’ at iCoolKid.

He told the Telegraph: ‘I’ll come home quite a few weekends and make six to six videos that can be release while at school.
‘Also, with a phone and a laptop, you can make anywhere an office.’
Jenk launched iCoolKid in March 2017, and was inspired by a newsletter he wrote with his mother telling his primary school friends about theatre productions they had seen.
Mrs Greco is very involved with Jenk’s business and believes others should have the opportunity to run a company.
She said: ‘Where is the next Elon Musk going to come from if schools aren’t supporting them?’
Jenk plans to eventually hand over his role of ‘curator of cool’ to someone younger than him to ensure the company can keep iCoolKid going.
