EastEnders actor arrested on suspicion of sexual communication with a minor

An actor who is believed to have appeared in the long-running and popular BBC soap EastEnders has been arrested on suspicion of engaging in sexual communications with a minor.

The man from London, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was arrested on Sunday 23 April, at an address near North London.

He has since been released on bail while enquiries into the circumstances continue.

His arrest was confirmed with a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police telling The Mirror: "On Sunday, 23 April, a man was arrested at an address in the vicinity of N19 on suspicion of engaging in sexual communications with a child.

They continued: "He was taken into police custody and has since been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in late June. Enquiries into the circumstances continue."

The performer is said to have spent years working in the television industry and as part of his performing work, he has often played a police officer and official figures on EastEnders. He has also shared photos of himself on the set of the soap.

Sexual communication with a child can be heard at either the Magistrates' Court or the Crown Course due to it being classed as an either-way offence.

The offence carries a maximum custodial sentence of two years and leads to the individual being placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
