Stacey Solomon urges ‘don’t judge’ as she returns to singing 14 years later

Stacey Solomon sings Christmas songs for her grandmother

Stacey Solomon returned to her musical roots yesterday in honour of her grandmother’s 95th birthday. Although best known now for her work in television, the presenter’s big break actually came when she appeared on The X Factor back in 2009.

She ultimately finished third in the contest behind Olly Murs and winner Joe McElderry. However, while the latter stars have both continued to flex their vocal chords during their career, Stacey has focused on TV presenting and has enjoyed great success.

Despite this, when her grandma requested that she sing for her birthday she couldn’t say no. The mum of five posted a clip from the party to her Instagram for her 5.8 million followers, admitting that she found it “cringe”.

Wearing a stunning black jumpsuit with a jewel embellished neckline, the star was seen singing the much-loved Judy Garland classic Somewhere Over The Rainbow. She was accompanied by just a keyboard player.

She explained that he was a long-time friend from college and they were by no means a professional set up. She said: “He literally had to play peoples requests he didn’t even know.”

“You all messaged me asking if I’d post some singing on here. I find it all very embarrassing tbh and I feel like a cringe but it’s Christmas so here you go… This was Grandma & My mum’s favourite song.

“It was a last-minute request tonight hope it makes you smile Happy Saturday Everyone… P.S the man playing the piano is one of my oldest friends from college who I rang a couple of weeks ago & forced him to come play piano with me (we are in no way a professional set up So don’t judge).
