EXCLUSIVE: Stormzy gives ex-girlfriend Maya Jama a hug as the pair meet at concert in the O2 – after rapper described their breakup as ‘the biggest loss a man can have’

Stormzy has been spotted getting close with ex-girlfriend Maya Jama, weeks after describing their split as ‘the biggest loss a man could have’.

MailOnline has exclusive footage of the rapper, 29, hugging his former partner, 28, while they attended Kendrick Lamar’s concert at London’s O2 Arena on Tuesday night.

Onlookers told how the pair later stood next to each other in the VIP area, enjoying each other’s company as they watched the US superstar.

Maya, who is single after splitting from NBA star Ben Simmons, 26, in August, attended the concert with her friends, while Stormzy arrived with his management team.

It’s unclear whether the former couple had organised to meet, however after sharing an embrace, they went on to spend the rest of the evening together before going their separate ways.

The onlooker said: ‘Stormzy approached the VIP area in good spirits, looking cool with his hoodie over his head.

‘As soon as he saw Maya he approached her and they embraced, proving there is no bad blood between them.

‘After sharing a hug, Stormzy rejoined his party before returning to the VIP area later in the gig where Maya was standing.

‘They were seen laughing, joking and dancing together. It was like old times.’

Maya was wearing a distinctive blue, white and black jacket, which she showed off on her Instagram Stories as she got ready for the concert.

She was still wearing the jacket during a post-trip to McDonald’s with her pals.

Earlier this month during an interview with Louis Theroux on the documentary-maker’s new BBC2 series, Stormzy – real name Michael Ebenezer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr – opened up in detail for the first time about his split from Maya.

The pair dated between 2016 and 2020, their relationship ending amid allegations he had been unfaithful.

Stormzy admitted the breakup had huge repercussions on him.

He said: ‘My break-up, that was probably the biggest catalyst for growth as a man.

‘It was like, OK, you made a mistake and you lose someone you loved, someone you cared for, someone who is special to you.

‘That’s probably the biggest loss a man can have, isn’t it? Away from someone passing away, that’s the biggest loss you can have.

‘The whole f***ing palaver that surrounded that situation, do you know what I mean? There were other things in terms of mistakes I’d made.

‘I didn’t do what a man should do to fully appreciate love, and care for his woman.’

Stormy has always denied any infidelity but admitted he had to learn some hard lessons about his behaviour.

He said: ‘Long story short, I learned that if I don’t want to feel like that again, and if I believe that God will bless me again with an amazing woman and a family and marriage and all of that kind of thing, I have to do all the necessary work to never be in that situation again.’

Maya’s shock split with NBA star Ben came after a seven-month whirlwind romance.

The pair reportedly struggled to maintain their long-distance relationship, with the basketball ace based in New York, while Maya lives in London.

The TV presenter, who was confirmed as the new Love Island host last month, left on good terms with her ex.

A source told the New York Post: ‘It’s been a difficult time for them.

‘They now understand they don’t have the time they thought to dedicate to this relationship.

‘After many long nights and hours of heartfelt talks, they finally realised as much as they love each other, their nonstop careers and endless travel have made it incredibly impossible to make it work.’
