I travelled hours to visit Home Bargains for the first time – I went bonkers and bought nine teddies… it was amazing | The Sun

A HOME Bargains novice was left gobsmacked when he found a highly coveted product for just £1.49 on the shelves.

May Naidoo travelled a whopping 90 minutes to get the Home Bargains experience after seeing lots of hype for the shop online.

The gamer, 25, was aware that the store might stock super rare teddies and decided it was worth the hour and a half bus journey.

When he got there, he was shocked to find the exact teddies on the shelves.

And what’s more, they were being flogged for £1.49 rather than the usual retail price of £10.99.

May – who goes by May Plays TV online – is a super fan of the video game Animal Crossing.

May dubbed them the “Animal Crossing bargain of the year”.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a social simulation game where the player lives in a village alongside talking animals.

It was a hit when released in the early 2000s and had a resurgence in popularity when the New Horizons gameplay was released in 2020.

Fellow fans flocked to May’s comments to share their excitement, while Home Bargains gurus were quick to question why his closest store was 90 minutes away.

One person joked: “I can see another Home Bargains from the Home Bargains I'm stood outside of…”

A second added: “90 minutes? There’s one like two minutes walk from my house and like three more in a ten minute drive.”

A third said: “That’s my local one.

“I love it so much and there’s a B&M near it that closes at 9pm.”
