Eric Chien wins Britain's Got Talent Magician special

Britain’s Got Talent is returning to ITV for a 16th season and it will see Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli return to the panel. The former BBC Strictly Come Dancing judge has replaced David Walliams on the show. Express.co.uk has all you need to know about when the show is back on.

When does Britain’s Got Talent 2023 start?

Comedian and writer Walliams left last year with the former Strictly star excited to take his place.

The upcoming season has sparked controversy before even airing after a prank left audience members reeling.

Tonioli was caught up in a prank on stage after being lured into a stunt involving his co-star Cowell.

Leaked footage showed the head judge laying on the ground, with Tonioli thinking he had shot him in the back with a crossbow.

A BGT source defended the stunt, telling The Sun: “This is a light-hearted skit in the show between the judges – and not meant to cause any offence at all.”

As for when the show is making a comeback, it will return on Saturday, April 15 at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.

The second episode will be shown the next evening from 7.45pm on April 16 on ITV1.

For the show’s scheduling, the live episodes are usually arranged to take place over the course of a week.

Semi-finals air on each weekday, and the live final air on either the Saturday or Sunday of that weekend.

Once again the series will be hosted by Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly.

The pair featured in a video on the official BGT Twitter account reeling off all of the former winners.

The post said: “Who will be the next WINNER of #BGT? Only time will tell…

Ant McPartlin ‘felt sorry’ for Bruno Tonioli at Britain’s Got Talent [INTERVIEW]

“The search for talent begins, Saturday 15th April at 8PM and Sunday 16th April at 7:45PM on @ITV1 and @WeAreSTV.”

In a new interview, Tonioli admitted the audition process for the new series didn’t run as smoothly as he’d hoped.

He said: “There is something that happened that I wasn’t aware of because I’d never seen the show before.

“I didn’t know they [the judges] were doing a prank and I nearly killed him [Simon Cowell].

“I was furious,” Bruno added. “He pulled a prank on me and I really wasn’t expecting [it].

“I can’t reveal it but I am sure you will see it. I really thought it was for real, I was completely unaware.”

At the Manchester auditions, the judge had been given a crossbow to fire at Simon.

At this stage, it is not known whether the prank will be shown as part of the series.
