'Chicago Fire': Fans Want Gabby Dawson to Return

Chicago Fire first premiered in 2012, and almost one decade later, the series’ popularity and reputation has grown significantly.

NBC network has received a lot of praise for the drama television series that is currently airing its 11th season. Chicago House 51 and its beloved workers are at the center of the show that so many people love. Jesse Spencer, Taylor Kinney, and Christian Stolte are just a few of the many talented cast members on Chicago Fire.

When it comes to the cast, there is one character fans and followers are hoping to see return. Take a look back at Gabby Dawson’s role on Chicago Fire and why so many viewers are dying to see the character return.

Gabby Dawson on ‘Chicago Fire’

Monica Raymund is the actor who played Gabby Dawson on Chicago Fire. Raymund’s character was known for her sometimes sassy attitude, but, ultimately, she had a very big heart.

When the series first began Gabby was a paramedic striving to get into the Chicago Fire Academy. After much hard work and some help from Matthew Casey, Dawson was able to make her dreams become a reality.

Gabby’s connection and relationship to Casey was a huge piece of her storyline. The couple dated and then finally got married during season five, but the happy times didn’t seem to last. A foster child and an extended stay from Gabby’s child were just a few of the issues viewers saw strain the pair’s relationship.

The reason behind Gabby Dawson’s exit on ‘Chicago Fire’

Chicago Fire‘s season six continued to perpetuate the tension and problems between Gabby and her husband Matthew Casey. As the series progressed, fans watched as Gabby contemplated returning to Puerto Rico. Gabby wanted to return to her home to help and assist with hurricane relief, and though she did try to get Casey to join, he wasn’t interested.

Ultimately, Gabby’s decision to go to Puerto Rico seemed to be the deciding factor behind the couple’s divorce as well as Gabby’s unofficial exit from the series.

Throughout season seven it became obvious that Raymund’s character would not be returning, but many fans and viewers may be wondering about why Raymund left the series in the first place.

When speaking with The Chicago Tribune Raymund explained, “I knew that my six-year contract was coming to an end and I felt like I was hungry to explore a different role, a different story. I wanted to explore a different world.”

Though it does make sense, it doesn’t mean fans and followers of Chicago Fire were very happy about it.

Fans and viewers of ‘Chicago Fire’ want Gabby Dawson to return

It has been quite a few years since Raymund has been a regular on Chicago Fire, but many fans still feel very strongly about the character. Simply put, they want her back. Chicago Fire‘s viewers have turned to Twitter to voice their frustrations and concerns over this beloved character.
