Dancing On Ice’s Holly and Phil blunder as stars appear ‘in two places at once’

Dancing On Ice hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield made a seriously awkward blunder during Sunday night's finale (March 12) – and it was never going to get past eagle-eyed viewers.

The duo presented the glittering final, welcoming last year's top two Regan Gascoigne and Brendan Cole back to the rink for a little turn on the ice.

But viewers were quick to pick up a major mistake, as while Holly and Phil were appearing to introduce the guests onto the rink, they were actually visible sat in their normal clothes in the audience behind them.

The This Morning duo turned to look at the rink as if to watch their guests skate, but Brendan could be seen glancing around looking somewhat amused.

Seemingly having learned to teleport, the next shot in the "live" show saw 2022 winner Regan and runner-up Brendan skating out onto the rink to help with the competition.

Viewers found the whole thing hilarious, with one saying: "That was odd. Announcing Brendan Cole and Regan Gascoigne onto the rink, but they were both sitting behind Holly and Phil and yet skating onto the rink at the same time!"

Another wrote: "Fire whoever placed Brendan and Regan right behind Holly and Phil for the competition section, epic fail."

A third commented: "Howling at Regan and Brendan being sat behind Holly and Phil in clear view then them pretending they're coming out on to the ice now."

And someone else said: "I can't stop laughing! Dancing On Ice just had Holly and Phil stand in front of Brendan and Regan introducing Brendan and Regan onto the ice rink and they both had to look in the direction and clap knowing full well they can't be in two places at once! Howling."

However, while it made for strange viewing, ITV actually made no attempt at trying to claim the skate was happening there and then.

The show has a "LIVE" logo in the top corner usually, however as soon as Regan and Brendan's short routine started it vanished, showing it was clearly pre-recorded – hence them being able to be seated in the audience at the same time.

Gymnast Nile Wilson won the 2023 finale, beating The Vivienne and Joey Essex.
